On Maundy Thursday, April 17, 2014, men of Holy Cross did a reenactment of the Last Supper. All were dressed in authentic costumes, many growing beards and some growing their hair long for the play.
Each actor took on the personality of the disciple which he portrayed and were either saddened, confused, shocked or angry that one of them would betray their Lord Jesus. Each actor questioned their lives and wondered if they could be the one to betray Jesus ending their narratives by asking, “Is it I Lord?”
Judas, storms out of the room after Jesus dips his bread and gives it to Judas telling him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.” After the sudden departure of Judas, Jesus and the rest of the disciples left quietly heading for the Garden of Gethsemane.
The play was well received and we hope to make this a yearly event.
