Got leaves? On Saturday, November 10 at 1:00 pm we are gathering at Holy Cross to rake leaves for older members of the congregation.   We’re inviting all youth and their families to join us.  Just bring a rake or a leaf blower and join us.  (If you don’t have one, one may be provided for you.)  We plan to finish about 3:30 pm, with cider and refreshments at the church.  (Rain date is Sunday afternoon, November 11). Parents, we are looking for a few drivers to help. If you think you may be able to help, please confirm to Rachel Nickel at 20twentycents@gmail.com. To add your yard to our list sign up in the Narthex or email Rachel Nickel. Donations will be accepted to benefit the National Youth Gathering Trip in July.

FLOOD BUCKETS:

Holy Cross will be assembling flood buckets on Saturday November 17th at 1:00pm

What are flood buckets? Flood buckets are a fantastic way for a church to get their members involved in Disaster Response without getting their hands dirty. The basic concept behind a flood bucket is to put basic cleaning items that will be used to muck out a house and help to stop the spread of mold.

Here’s a checklist of what we’re collecting:

1. Paper Towels
2. Disposable Rags
3. Glass Cleaner
4. Cleansing Powder (Like Comet)
5. Liquid Cleaner (Mr. Clean, AJAX, etc.)
6. Bleach (1 Gallon Size)
7. Scrub Brush
8. Two Pairs of Rubber Gloves
9. Sponges

If you are unable to come assemble buckets you can still help by donating funds and or supplies to this effort! Our goal is 50+ buckets! See Pastor Nickel, Jeff Allan, or Tom Marzano for more information or see the bulletin board.

Oktoberfest a Huge Success!: THANKS for making this year’s Oktoberfest a hit!  It was well attended by church members, family, lots of friends, and the fellowship kindled was awesome. Great job to all! This benefit surely has given a boost to finance the youth of Holy Cross and Our Savior to attend the 2019 National Youth Gathering in Minneapolis, MN. Everyone had fun and there were many compliments on the scrumptious food prepared for the event. A big thank you to George Schettler (executive chef), Doreen Borschel (official cake baker), Dave Chalmers (libations and beverages), Rachel Nickel (admissions), Doug and Chris Garlapo (50/50), Grace Swiatek (basket and silent action), Wendy Shelton (music), and Nancy Cote (setup, decorations, cleanup).  This is a short list but there were many others that peeled potatoes, designed the posters, donated baskets, decorated and un-decorated, posted signs, sold tickets and of course attended the event. With well over 300 people attending, we will realize about $5,000 for the 2019 National Youth Convention, (pending a final accounting)! All told, the event was a huge success and could not have been done without you. Thank you! Francis Cote’
