Holy Cross is hosting an Oktoberfest event on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 4:00-10:00 p.m. at Clarence Town Park’s Miller Pavilion (10405 Main Street, Clarence). In support of our Buffalo brothers and sisters in Christ in East Buffalo, (and in the wake of the Tops mass shooting incident), funds raised will go to Cold Spring Community Foundation: a food bank in East Buffalo.Tickets are $20 pre-sale ($22 at the door) for adults and $10 ($12 at the door for kids ages 2-10). All net proceeds will be donated to this community foundation. See Nancy Cote’ (716-818-1175), Francis Cote’ (716-510-8742) for tickets, more information, or to volunteer. Judy, the church secretary, also has tickets.
Amy Olsen and her team will be managing admission to the event. Everyone will receive a wristband as proof of admission at the door. Since we are serving alcoholic beverages, there will be two different band colors to differentiate who is of legal drinking age (21 years of age or older). Food and beverage tickets are valued at $1 each and will allow you to buy various food and beverage items throughout the night, each with a varying number of tickets. For example; a bottle of water will be 1 ticket, a beer 5 tickets, etc.
George Schettler will be the head chef for the event. He is assembling his team now. George has been in the restaurant/catering business for over 50 years and he makes a killer German Potato Salad! George’s nephews; Pastor Matthew and his brother Andy will be in charge of the grill for the perfect grill marks on meat items.
Tom Marzano and his crew will be serving the beverages for the event and David Shelton will manage the recorded German music and sound system.
Susan Brooks has volunteered to run the basket and silent auction and there will be a 50/50 raffle too! We are looking for donations of baskets containing items with a value of at least $25. If you have a few items to donate but not enough to make a whole basket, please contact Susan at 716-491-9703 or you can bring them to church, place them in the kitchen and mark for “Oktoberfest basket auction”. We prefer new items but will consider used items if they are of value.
We hope that we’ll be able to fill the pavilion with your family, friends and neighbors. We can’t wait to see you all there for the fun!
Gemütlichkeit!
